The Groom’s Cake

June 30, 2010 · Personal

Joe saw a picture of this cake online and loved it.  He tried to convince me multiple times that it should be our actual wedding cake.  Although I thought it was quite hilarious myself, I told him that it would not be our wedding cake.  So, being the sneaky girl that I am, I arranged to have this be the grooms cake at our wedding and totally surprised him!  He loved it, I loved it, and our guests loved it.  It looked awesome, tasted even better and is the sole reason for my post-wedding weight gain!  Thanks Karol for the amazing groom’s cake!

I ♥ Faces: Pets Only

June 29, 2010 · Photography

This picture of Dora has appeared on my blog before, but I just couldn’t resist.  This one of my favorite pictures of all time!  I just love the composition and how she looks so little and innocent.

Post-Wedding Hangover

June 24, 2010 · Personal

Now, I was warned about this.  This horrible thing called the post-wedding hangover.  The post-wedding hangover is the feeling you experience after the wedding is over, the honeymoon is over, and real life sets in again.  I told myself I would be different, that I was totally prepared for this feeling…I mean I knew it would be weird to not have to plan anymore but I am a busy girl, all that time spent planning could now be spent on other things right?  Wrong.  Boy did it hit me hard.  It was all over and I was sad.  I was sad because our wedding weekend and honeymoon were perfect!  I honestly could not have asked for anything more and that was the problem.  Had things gone horribly wrong then I would have welcomed the conclusion of these events.  But no, it had to go so well that I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!  So here is where I will stop complaining and accept my future, the future of no more wedding, no more honeymoon and a huge post-wedding hangover.  But at the end of the day I accept this all with a huge smile on my face and enough amazing memories to keep me smiling for the rest of my life, and for that I am thankful.

So today will be the first and only time I welcome a hangover! ;-)

US Soccer!

June 23, 2010 · Personal

I am so thrilled right now, not only did team USA win and make it to the round of 16, they won group C!  It is absolutely amazing with all the controversy that surrounded the goal called back in the US vs. Solvenia match last week, and today’s purported offsides goal not allowed again, it is pretty crazy that at the end of the day the US could not have ended the group stage doing any better.  They will play against the second place team in group D which as of right now is still wide open for any of the 4 teams in that group to advance.   Get ready for another nail bitter on Saturday at 2:30pm, I’m sure the US will continue to keep us on the edge of our seats…GO USA!

The Event on Main

June 18, 2010 · Charities

Last night Joe (my husband) and I had the pleasure of being invited to a wonderful event called The Event on Main.  The Event on Main is a fundraiser to help support the new University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and the Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.

The event was absolutely wonderful with a plethora of drinks, awesome food provided by Main Street Ventures, music and dancing.  We even felt pretty cool rubbing shoulders with the likes of Brandon Inge, Drew Stanton and Charles Woodson

Dawn and Kevin, thank you so much for inviting us to such a wonderful event!  It was a fabulous night and was so inspiring to see over 400 people there who all support and generously donate to this wonderful cause.

The Beautiful Game

June 11, 2010 · Personal

Today is a day that the largest sporting event in the world begins… the World Cup!  I am so excited to to watch 32 teams compete not only for themselves and their teams, but for their fans and their countries.  Soccer is definitely a lonely sport to be a fan of here in the US, but for the next month I will be surrounded by a world of people who see the game the way I see it, beautiful.

Married!

June 8, 2010 · Personal

I am married!  ;-) (more on that later)

Having just returned from my wedding weekend and honeymoon, and this being my first day back to the day job, I am feeling a little overwhelmed.  This image (that a friend took at our resort in Key West) says it all right now…Breath

(notice the flag in the background…very fitting as this was taken over Memorial Day weekend!)

And how could I forget to wish my big bro a very happy birthday?!  Have a great birthday Dave!
